Chair, England’s Historic Cities
Melanie Sensicle is an experienced tourism professional who spent 15 years working in senior roles in destination organisations before establishing her own consultancy in 2015. She works across the country for a wide range of clients that currently include Marketing Lancashire, Southampton Cultural Development Trust, NewcastleGateshead Initiative and 13 destinations across Northern England leading the Team North Initiative. She has helped Lincolnshire County Council and LEP to review tourism delivery arrangements in the county and fill market intelligence gaps and run high profile projects for Visit England and Visit Britain including the Northern Tourism Growth Fund, a £20m international marketing initiative.
She was involved in the set-up of the £40m Discover England Fund and wrote or contributed to 5 project applications all of which have been successful in securing investment, £4m in total. She chairs England’s Historic Cities, a collection of England’s premiere league heritage destinations, who collaborate for mutual benefit, and is leading the delivery of their Discover England Fund project, The Collection. Her areas of interest and expertise include: strategic planning for destinations and organisations, research and market intelligence, brand development, communications, evaluation, creating partnerships and audience development.
